It has been three years since fans last saw Johnny Depp as the rum-swigging pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. As the 57-year-old star, reportedly, won't return to the franchise, will there be no chance at all for fans to see the troubled actor's iconic character in Pirates of the Caribbean 6?

Johnny Depp is one of the movie series' original casts, along with Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. However, Disney dropped Depp from the franchise after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, claimed she was a domestic violence victim in her 2018 op-ed on Washington Post.

Movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer even hinted at Depp's non-appearance in Pirates of the Caribbean 6, via Devdiscourse, when he said they're not sure what would be the musician's role while they're developing the script. Although he didn't confirm Depp wouldn't be part of the movie, he didn't deny it either.

Bruckheimer revealed they're now working on a draft. Once they've finally completed the script, they would give it to Disney, hoping the studio will like it.

There is now an ongoing fans' petition asking for 300,000 signatures to have Depp back in Pirates of the Caribbean 6. So far, the appeal now has almost 220,000 signs as of this writing -- 80,000 short from reaching the target.

For playing the role since 2003, his supporters said they couldn't think of any actor that could play as Sparrow as good as him. The post also revealed Disney is rebooting Pirates of the Caribbean because it's a box office hit. But without Depp or Sparrow, they believed it would flop.

Two Pirates of the Caribbean movies are currently in the works, which are both reboots. According to Screenrant, neither of which will pick up the events the previous installments' left.

The two new films may both not include Depp or his character, Sparrow. By the looks of it, it will be focusing on introducing all-new characters.

The first movie will be written by Craig Mazin from Chernobyl and Ted Elliott, who wrote the first four Pirates of the Caribbean films. Alternatively, the second movie will feature a fresh take of the franchise, featuring another set of new key players and stories.

Margot Robbie is said to lead the second Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, along with the Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson. Fans seem to celebrate the 30-year-old star's coming to the franchise since its original storyline features female power before it steps away from Elizabeth Swann's (Knightley) storyline.

Does this mean there is no chance Depp will be seen in Pirates of the Caribbean 6?
