BLACKPINK is arguably one of the most popular K-pop groups in recent history. Despite only having their debut four years ago, Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa already achieved worldwide success.

BLACKPINK’s agency, YG Entertainment, is home to legendary artists such as BIGBANG, Sechs Kies, WINNER, iKON, and more. Popular idols like PSY and 2NE1 were also under the label before their disbandment and departure.

That said, BLACKPINK’s popularity was already expected way before they stabilized their ground in the K-pop world. However, their current success is beyond anyone’s expectation.

Now, BLACKPINK shared that one particular thing is the reason why they are successful all around the world. Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa recently appeared on JTBC’s Knowing Bros after making a comeback with their new hit “Lovesick Girls.”

Kang Ho Dong asked the girls, “Why do you think BLACKPINK is so popular globally?” Rose chose the visuals approach and said that it’s because they have a “pretty unni like Jisoo.” While the 23-year-old singer and dancer was just being sweet and cute when she said that, it was actually a very valid answer.

K-pop is not just about singing and dancing. With a lot of competition in the industry, visuals are very important to stand out from the rest. In fact, some K-pop fans idolize an artist or a group mainly because of how they look.

While everyone agrees with Rose’s answer, Jennie has a more logical reason. The “Solo” singer explained that the diversity of the group is the key to their success.

“Because we are a group with members from all different cultures, it allows us to be more relatable to our global fans,” Jennie said.

For those who didn’t know yet, the BLACKPINK members were living in different countries before the group was formed. Jisoo is from Korea, Jennie is from New Zealand, Rose is from Australia, and Lisa is from Thailand.

Because of their different backgrounds and cultures, their fans are not only coming from one place. But, of course, it’s not the only reason why they are loved by their supporters.

BLACKPINK’s visuals and talent are top-tier. The girls were carefully handpicked during the audition to form a next-level girl group, and Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa achieved that goal.

After their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has broken records after records. Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa’s worldwide success was confirmed when they became the first K-pop girl group to perform in Coachella last year.
