Perdita Weeks'Juliet Higgins will have a love interest once Magnum P.I. season 3 premieres on CBS. His arrival might challenge Jay Hernandez's Thomas Magnum moving forward. They take on certain cases together, but what would the latter feel now that his partner in crime found a potential romance?
Previously, TV Insider reported that Jay Ali will have a recurring role in the upcoming Magnum P.I. season 3. The actor is set to play the role of Dr. Ethan Shah, a trauma surgeon and someone whom Higgins met after being injured. Their unexpected encounter leads to something more, eventually.
After Higgins' operation at the Kings Medical Hospital, the "charming and confident" surgeon asks her out for dinner. However, Ethan's presence could bring tension between Higgins and Magnum, with the latter possibly feeling jealous since someone has caught his partner's attention.
Prior to the season 2 finale, Hernandez spoke to the aforementioned outlet about his characters' chemistry with Higgins. He noted that there's "something percolating" beneath the surface but Magnum doesn't want to explore that. Yet, he cares for her and doesn't want her to go away.
For Weeks' character, Ethan's arrival is a big deal. In fact, executive producer Eric Guggenheim said that it is a big step for Higgins, especially since she never had a serious relationship after her fiancé died. Her potential love interest puts Magnum in a weird spot.
Since he and Higgins are always together, he doesn't know how to react now that she's giving her attention to another man. Ethan, who will show up in the premiere of Magnum P.I. season 3, could make the titular character question his own feelings for her.
This is something that will be further explored as the new season progresses. The series already hinted at a potential romance, that's why fans were hoping the two get together moving forward. They even almost got married just so Higgins could stay in the country.
In the previous installment, Higgins' encountered a problem regarding her stay in the country. Magnum offered her to marry him, yet he wasn't the person she wanted to marry in order to remain. But, later on, she found a way to stay in the country without marrying anyone.
Magnum P.I. season 3 continues to offer some of the things we've seen in the past, though some things might be different this time around. Now that Higgins is in a higher position, she and Magnum take on more high-stakes cases.
Magnum P.I. season 3 has no official release date but it is, reportedly, part of CBS Fall schedule.
