Stargirl season 2 will be introducing two new Big Bads once it arrives at some point next year. It has been previously reported that Eclipso and The Shade, who were both teased in season 1, will be joining the series. Now, we have an official update as to who will portray these villains.

In a new report from Deadline, it was confirmed that Nick Tarabay will be playing the role of Eclipso. He is going to be a series regular, which means we'll see more of him in Stargirl season 2. This character will be one of the biggest foes of Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl (Brec Bassinger) so far.

Eclipso is set to clash with the members of the Justice Society of America in the series' latest outing. During the New York Comic-Con, series creator/executive producer Geoff Johns described the character as "terrifying and different than the Injustice Society of America members."

In season 1, Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy) stole his life essence trapped inside a blue diamond, which was originally owned by the Injustice Society of America. Now that Cindy has the diamond in her hands, it could cause a huge problem for the rest of the Justice Society of America members.

Eclipso is an ancient entity of "corruption and vengeance" and he's able to expose other people's flaws. What makes him even more terrifying as a villain is that he's enjoying the impure and sinful, and feeds off the dark side of humanity.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Cake will have a recurring role in Stargirl season 2, playing the role of The Shade. The character has been teased in the season 1 finale, and his presence in the new installment sets the stage for something sinister moving forward.

The Shade is another dangerous villain Courtney and her team has to take on Stargirl season 2. Just like Eclipso, he is terrifying, as well. But, what makes him different from the former is that he is "most powerful and threatening of them all" since no one knows what he really wants.

He is an English immortal and wields magical powers. The Shade is slim, tall, and has an elegant 19th century way to his speech and manners. He is masking all the horrors that he experienced and the people that he's lost with a false sense that nothing matters.

At the moment, the official release date of Stargirl season 2 remains unknown. The series hasn't started production right now and it seems like everything will be kicking off in 2021. We'll keep you updated when more details are available.
