The latest Apple macOS Big Sur beta code contains references to three new Mac devices that might be released in the future.

According to 9to5Mac, the references are found within the System, Library folder of macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 beta code. The Cupertino tech giant includes different bundle files to identify various kinds of Mac models. The report further revealed that there are files connected to the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro, the 2020 27-inch Mac and the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

These files, according to the report, were the early indicators that a new 16-inch MacBook Pro was releasing back in 2019. A couple of brand new files that reference two unreleased Macs were discovered in the macOS Big Sur 11.0.1, the report revealed. Another file was reportedly found on the 10th beta of the macOS 11 Big Sur, but it was just discovered recently.

The new bundle of files uncovered in macOS Big Sur includes MacHardwareTypes-2020f.bundle, MacHardwareTypes-2020g.bundle and MacHardwareTypes-2020h.bundle. These were recently highlighted on a tweet by HackerTech. What do these files mean?

The MacHardwareTypes-2019f.bundle and MacHardwareTypes-2019d.bundle are reportedly for the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Meanwhile, the MacHardwareTypes-2019a.bundle is allegedly for the 2020 MacBook Air. The other files are reportedly for the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 2020 iMac.

Interestingly, since the referenced files do not contain any data, no information could be derived from them. There is a great possibility that the references would return again with codes in line with the upcoming Apple event, which is scheduled to happen on Nov 17. While the recently discovered are references, some fans believe that these could be the new MacBooks that would house Apple Silicon.

The references could be the industry's first in-code details confirming that Apple is indeed working on its first batch of mac devices running on Apple Silicon. The recently released beta is focused on improving performance and fixing bugs. It also rolled out new wallpapers for mac devices.

TFI Securities Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo previously mentioned that a redesigned 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon would begin shipping in the fourth quarter of this year. Apple announced in June that the first Mac with the custom silicon would be available by the end of 2020. Kuo also predicted that a new MacBook Air with Apple Silicon would enter into production in the fourth quarter of 2020 and would be released in the early part of 2021.
