The final season has seen Dean and Sam fighting against Chuck/God (Rob Benedict). This particular storyline will be wrapped in the penultimate episode. After that, Supernatural season 15 episode 20 proceeds to bring more heartfelt and personal stories.
Meanwhile, Ackles discussed some of the changes in the episode due to the pandemic. While the original plan hasn't been altered, the real-life health crisis limits the guest stars set to appear. The actor told Glamour that some familiar faces were set to return what that won't happen now.

Two more episodes are coming before the series finale airs. In episode 18, titled "Despair," the Winchesters will be working with Castiel (Collins) and Jack (Calvert) to fight for the good of the common goal. They'll try to make sure that their plan would be successful.
The story will, then, be carried out through the penultimate, titled "Inherit the Earth." The battle against God continues and everything is on the line now. A familiar face will show up to help Dean, Sam, and others to join the fight.
