His Dark Materials season 2 episode 1 is arriving within a few weeks on HBO, with the title "The City of Magpies." The premiere sees Lyra (Dafne Keen) going on an important journey. She comes across Will (Amir Wilson) along the way, and they'll eventually join forces.
His Dark Materials season 2 episode 1 serves as the starting point of epic adventures coming ahead. We're going to see Lyra and Will working together for a great cause. However, the two won't come face-to-face immediately as there are some circumstances they have to take on first.
Based on the synopsis of His Dark Materials season 2 episode 1, Lyra and her daemon Pan go on a journey and travel to the strangely deserted city of Cittàgazze. Along the way, she meets Will but she hesitated to team up with him at first.
As the two explore the city of Cittàgazze, they meet children and warned about Spectres. These children weren't affected by Spectres, though they can consume adults' souls. Eventually, Lyra discovered that Oxford also exists in the world of Will, who agreed to take here there.
Meanwhile, the Magisterium didn't acknowledge that this new world exists, while Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) interrogated the imprisoned witch named Katja. Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda), on the other hand, revealed to the witch council that he's looking for an explorer who could protect Lyra.
He embarks on a journey in order to locate this said explorer. It's nice to see Lee having a story in His Dark Materials season 2 episode 1, given that things didn't go immediately for him in season 1. He is someone who has a strong impact on unraveling the mysteries surrounding the knife.
The trailer of the new chapter teased the merging of two worlds, with a knife seemingly tearing between worlds. Lyra and Will explore new different worlds and they may encounter new adversaries. There could be shifting allegiances, as well as betrayal.
The latest installment is based on the second novel of Philip Pullman's novel series, The Subtle Knife. A lot of mysteries will be unlocked along the way and new settings will be explored. Moreover, most of the characters will learn more about each other.
The upcoming season will only consist of a total of seven episodes. The numbers were cut short due to the pandemic. Originally, the series has eight episodes in total. The good thing is that this particular episode is said to be not important in the second installment.
His Dark Materials season 2 episode 1 airs on Monday, Nov. 16, on HBO.
