Magnum P.I. season 3 will be introducing Juliet Higgins' new love interest once it arrives on CBS. Perdita Weeks' character will meet a trauma surgeon after being treated due to an injury. The question now is: will this potential romance continue throughout the new installment?
Jay Ali is going to portray the role of Dr. Ethan Shah in Magnum P.I. season 3. His unexpected encounter with Higgins would eventually lead to something more. After her operation at the Kings Medical Hospital, this "confident and charming" trauma surgeon asks her out for dinner.
Now, it looks like Ethan would be part of the story for quite a long time. In a recent Twitter post, the official writers' room of the series confirmed that Ali's character would be around longer than just a few episodes -- unlike Thomas Magnum's (Jay Hernandez) most recent love interest.
When one fan tweeted that it would be "pointless" if the series brought in Higgins' love interest in the premiere and then he won't be seen in 3 o 4 episodes, the Magnum P.I. Writers account responded: "He'll be with us longer than 3 or 4 eps."
This is a clear indication that we'll be seeing more of Ethan in Magnum P.I. season 3. We could witness how his potential relationship with Higgins develops. However, his presence could bring tension between Higgins and Thomas, who might feel somewhat jealous because of this.
The series has already set up interesting dynamics between the two. Although they weren't romantic towards each other, Thomas willingly offered Higgins to marry him in order for her to stay in the country. He was quite disappointed when she chose TC (Stephen Hill), instead.
The good thing is that Higgins was able to find another option that doesn't require marriage. If there is no romantic jealousy here, Higgins' new love interest could still make Thomas feel some sort of "professional jealousy." He's not used that someone caught his partner's attention -- aside from him.
Both of them are always available and used to having each other. Since Higgins will potentially be in a romantic relationship, there could be some restrictions that come along with it. She may not spend most of her time with Thomas, who might feel left out at some point.
Meanwhile, Magnum P.I. season 3 is bringing back an original series star on board. Amy Hill, who plays Teuila Tuileta, confirmed via Instagram that the original TC star Roger E. Mosley is returning in the reboot for one upcoming episode.
Mosley will be reprising his John Booky role, who appeared in the series in 2019. He is someone who'll provide sage advice to the new TC, and there could be a "musical component" to his appearance. The show's writers' room Twitter account confirmed that the actor is going to sing once he appeared.
As for the release, Magnum P.I. season 3 official premiere date hasn't been announced of this writing.
He’ll be with us longer than 3 or 4 eps. Unfortunately we had to write out Abby because @brookelyons was cast on another series. https://t.co/h5GkajugiT — Magnum P.I. Writers (@MagnumWriters) November 5, 2020
