Kang Daniel and TWICE Jihyo are no longer together. This was confirmed by a source from JYP Entertainment.
According to a report by Soompi, the two Kpop idols have broken up after more than a year of dating. The news was originally reported by Dispatch, the same outfit that revealed Kang Daniel and Jihyo's dating news last year.
The confirmation from a JYP insider came shortly after. However, an official statement has not yet been released by the agency. Meanwhile, Kang Daniel's KONNECT Entertainment said that they will make a statement upon making a confirmation with their artist.
It can be recalled that TWICE's Jihyo and Kang Daniel confirmed their relationship in August 2019 after they were caught dating by Dispatch. While their relationship was only confirmed late in the year, it was speculated they may have started dating earlier in 2019.
While many fans were receptive to the idea of the two idols dating, they also went through a lot of stress after their relationship became public.
It can be recalled that Kang Daniel had to take a break before the end of last year because of depression and anxiety. Jihyo also cited the pressures that she went through after her relationship with Daniel was revealed.
Last January, she admitted that since her personal life became public, she suffered from criticism and rumors that led to her unease and anxiety whenever she stepped on stage to perform, Netline reported.
Despite their challenges, Jihyo and Daniel continued to see each other. Their break up came as a shock to fans to ONCEs and DANITYs who supported their relationship.
Jihyo is not the only TWICE member who was confirmed to be dating. TWICE member MOMO and Super Junior's Kim Heechul admitted at the beginning of the year that they were seeing each other.
Despite the 13 year age gap between the couple, their relationship was generally well-received by fans of Super Junior and TWICE.
Most recently, Chaeyoung was also involved in dating rumors. Netizens started speculating that the TWICE member was dating a tattoo artist named Chimhwasa because of the clues they found on the artist's page.
Some pointed out the similar features between Chaeyoung and Chimhwasa's posted artwork. Some fans also found photos of the alleged couple as they shopped for groceries.
Because of TWICE's dating news, netizens investigated if the members were no longer covered by a dating ban. They found an interview that revealed that JYP's dating ban on TWICE only lasted for three years, and ended in 2018, Koreaboo reported.
