Fans are now planning to boycott Aquaman 2 for continuously featuring Amber Heard after Johnny Depp resigned from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie series. The petition to remove the 34-year-old star from the DC film is once again circulating, while another petition is asking the 57-year-old actor to reprise his role.
Depp's fans have been clamoring for Heard's removal from Aquaman 2 amid their legal battle. To recall, the 34-year-old star charged the Pirates of the Caribbean star with domestic violence, but the emergence of her audio recordings seemed to claim she is the alleged abuser.
However, Depp lost his libel trial against The Sun, which executive editor, Dan Wooton, named him a "wife beater" in a 2018 article. After this, Warner Bros. asked Depp to resign from his role, to which he totally "agreed," respecting the network's decision, Independent noted.
Later, fans took to Twitter their plan to boycott Aquaman 2 as Heard is still part of the movie, according to Devdiscourse. The hashtag #BoycottAquman2 is now trending, gaining so much attention, from posts to comments, demanding for the London Field star's exit from the movie series.
The petition on Change.org is now gaining traction, getting over 950,000 signatures over its 1 million goal - as of this writing - and it continuously grows by the minute. Now, it is up to Warner Bros. to take some action.
On the other hand, there is also a petition asking the studio to bring back Depp on the Fantastic Beasts movie series that now gets almost 170,000 signs out of its 200,000 objective. Fans want the production company to reverse its decision, saying it should listen to the public and warning they would not be watching Aquaman 2 if it didn't hear their cries.
So far, there are reports that Mads Mikkelsen is now in talks to replace Depp as Grindelwald in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts 3, The Guardian reported. Allegedly, the 54-year-old star is director David Yates' first choice to play the role of the most dangerous wizard of all time in the second movie, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Colin Farrell played a role in the first Fantastic Beasts movie. However, he didn't manage to reprise his role in the second installment due to some commitments on the new Batman movie, in which he will play as the Penguin.
