One of the characters in the second half of Lucifer season 5 might be in danger after co-showrunner Joe Henderson teased that someone will die in the next eight episodes. Fans were worried about who among the characters could not make it until the series finale.

Lucifer season 5 has no official return date at the moment, but fans have been getting updates on what's coming next in the story. The first half arrived in August, and it sees the arrival of the titular character's twin brother, Michael, played also by Ellis.

The series resumed production following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Reportedly, the second half has finished filming and it is now in post-production. Since most of the work is done, fans are eager to get more information about the next eight episodes.

One of the major spoilers is that one of the characters may die. This has already been teased back in June, which was hinted at in the synopsis. It was noted that "beloved characters will die," and this was confirmed by Henderson recently.

During the Baltimore Comic-Con, the co-showrunner revealed that it is true that one of the characters dies and it is happening "very soon." He confirmed that the death will be seen in the second half of Lucifer season 5, adding that they intend to "break hearts" but "tell endings" at the same time.

However, Henderson didn't reveal who among the characters will meet his or her tragic ending. Originally, the fifth installment was set to be the final one, but Netflix renewed it for season 6 which will serve as the final outing. Hence, whoever dies will not returning in the series finale.

Previous speculations suggest Lauren German's Chloe Decker might be killed off in the series. Fans spotted some clues, with the biggest one the actress being absent on set. While most cast members are sharing behind-the-scenes updates, some noticed that German was nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year that they don't want to alter the ending of Lucifer season 5 too much. She explained that it was a request they did for the studio and viewers.

Modrovich noted that they don't want to change what they have because they're pleased with the ending and it is "impactful." That means that the remaining episodes in the second half will feature a lot of dramatic and emotional moments.

The first half of Lucifer season 5 is currently available on Netflix.
