With the success of Season 1, getting a high rating of 8/10 on IMDb, it is no surprise that The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 is about to come. It even leads to the coming of Season 3.
According to Devdiscourse, the official plot or synopsis of a new season is yet to be revealed, but it may pick up where the previous installment left off. Here, Naofumi Iwatani, Raphtalia, and Filo may come across a new companion.
They may also meet a new enemy that they have to face together. This foe is going to be more dangerous and powerful than any other antagonists that they have ever met before.
Meanwhile, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2's preview doesn't give much about its storyline, but it hints at its future while remembering some of the significant moments from the past.
The teaser began in the courtroom where all of the heroes came across the king. Raphtalia and Filo were also seen reminiscing their past.
Although it remains to be seen if Filo is only thankful for being raised by Naofumi or it is the latter who has already accepted the past, it seems like they have "developed from their respective starting points," per CBR.
The book then opens a new scene. By the looks of it, the way the book is used to introduce different sequences seems to show it is being updated with their various adventures.
The clip also showed the protagonists outside of the building, which is marked with a green flag. Although it doesn't come with dialogue, the extra footage reveals several side characters Naofumi is about to meet on his new adventures. Their roles in the original story remain unknown, but they surely come with an exciting storyline.
Comicbook noted The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2's scripts are now completed and its elements are now coming together. However, the staff revealed during a panel at the virtual edition 2020 Crunchyroll Expo that they couldn't tell how much of their original light novel season the new season would cover. The giant turtle's appearance in the visual hinted that it would only be a small part of the major battles.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2's official release date is yet to be announced.
