Fans will see another person from Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) past coming in Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 4. Her late husband, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), has already appeared in her beach dream sequence. Now, someone, presumably dead, will visit her in "You'll Never Walk Alone."
There are a lot of speculations as to who could show up in Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 4. One of the candidates is George O'Malley (T.R. Knight). While he may not be blood-related to Meredith, he became a significant part of her life while working at the hospital.
He was part of the medical drama series since season 1 but met his tragic death in season 5. The character hasn't appeared in the show for more than a decade. Now that some people from Meredith's past appear, fans were hoping George would be the next.
Many were shocked when the latest installment brought Derek back, albeit dream sequence. This is one of the biggest twists in the premiere, as it was revealed Meredith has COVID-19. She's unresponsive and unable to wake up due to her current condition.
While unconscious, she began to see the important people in her life, particularly her late husband. Now, the preview of Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 4 confirmed that another person from her past returns. Fans started speculating who's going to show up next.
Considering George's impact on her life, there is a chance he'll be appearing. But, if not Knight's character, it would leave the door open from Meredith's family members: her mother Ellis (Kate Burton), her father Thatcher (Jeff Perry), and her half-sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh).
The three all have a huge impact on Meredith's life, but the latter is at the top of the list. Lexie's exit was so sudden and unexpected since she died from injuries she sustained in the plane crash in season 8. However, even though it would nice to see her appearing, some things should be considered.
As per CarterMatt, it would be difficult for Leigh to make an appearance in the series since she is a series regular on The CW's Supergirl, which is currently in production in Vancouver. Her schedules might be conflicted; it would be hard to film two series that requires traveling amidst the pandemic.
Beyond Meredith's beach dream sequence, Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 4 will also deliver stories to other characters. Owen (Kevin McKidd) faces diagnosis, while Thomas (Greg Germann) starts to go stir crazy. Also, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) gets a glimpse into Winston's (Antony Hill) background.
