The Walking Dead season 10 will be dropping its six bonus episodes next year. Viewers will see more self-contained and character-oriented stories, rather than huge epic battles, as the post-apocalyptic drama scaled back production to comply with the COVID-19 protocols.

Recently, a new teaser for the bonus six episodes of The Walking Dead season 10 has been released, providing fans a first look at Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) deceased wife, Lucille. She wasn't properly introduced since she's long dead (due to pancreatic cancer) when his husband arrived in the series.

Hilarie Burton, Morgan's real-life wife, is set to play Lucille in the bonus episodes. The teaser only showed a glimpse of her for a few seconds, but her appearance sparked interest among fans. Her arrival means the series will explore the backstory of Negan, a former Big Bad turned ally.

Lucille died before the zombie plague, but Negan was traumatized when his wife turned into a zombie. This experience prompted him to become a villain. He was known for carrying his barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat, which was named after Lucille.

But after becoming the biggest torn to the Survivors, Negan eventually turned into an ally and helped the group defeat the Whisperers. Now, in one of the bonus episodes dedicated to him, "Here's Negan," the character reflects on everything that happened to him and "comes to a conclusion about his future."

Aside from Lucille's introduction, The Walking Dead season 10 bonus episodes will also bring a story about Maggie (Lauren Cohan). In "Home Sweet Home," she returns but wasn't ready to reveal her story. In the clip, she was seen walking with a child, possibly her and Glenn's (Steven Yeun) son.

As for Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), they'll go on an adventure in "Find Me." However, their journey goes in another direction when they come across an old cabin. Also, fans will learn where the former was the time Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) disappeared.

The Walking Dead season 10 bonus episodes also bring stories to other characters. Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) will encounter Mays (Robert Patrick) in "One More," while "Splinter" sees Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and his group in danger after being captured.

"Diverge" shifts back to Daryl and Carol's storyline. After going on a journey together, they'll go on separate ways while trying their own type of survival mode. The biggest question here is: will they be able to repair their friendship, or is the damage permanent?

The Walking Dead season 10 will be returning with its bonus episodes on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, on AMC.
