Shameless season 11 is premiering next month on Showtime and it serves as the final installment of the family comedy-drama. It will continue to follow the poor, dysfunctional Gallagher family as they face new challenges, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, gentrification, and feud against the Milkovich family.
Showtime dropped the official trailer of Shameless season 11 just recently. The clip sees the Gallaghers still living their daily lives despite the pandemic. Like other shows out there, the series will tackle the current events that happened in the real world over the past few months.
As seen in the trailer, the family reacts to the COVID-19 outbreak and whether or not they should wear masks. Patriarch Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) is seemingly against wearing masks, while the youngest Gallagher sibling, Liam (Christian Isaiah), was spotted following the protocols.
Gentrification is also one of the major themes in Shameless season 11. Frank will do whatever he can to save the South Side. He's going to make the city "dangerous" again by committing crimes as much as possible to keep other people from moving into his favorite neighborhood.
Moreover, the trailer featured the legalization of marijuana in Chicago. Kev Ball (Steve Howey) and V Fisher (Shanola Hampton) started their pot selling business and seemingly got rich instantly. It looks like Frank will join, claiming he knows the business "inside and out."
Furthermore, the final installment sees a big feud between the Gallagher family and Milkovich family. In the season 10 finale, Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey Milkovich (Noel Fisher) got married, even though the latter's homophobic father tried to sabotage the ceremony.
The newlywed's life will be challenged because of Mickey's father, Terry Milkovich (Dennis Cockrum). The trailer teases turmoil between the Gallaghers and Milkoviches, with the latter family moving in next door and shot gunfire to announce their arrival.
In another report, it remains to be seen whether Emmy Rossum is coming back as Fiona Gallagher in Shameless season 11. She is one of the most notable characters and a significant member of the family. She was part of the series from season 1 to season 9.
Being the oldest Gallagher child, Friona began working at the age of 16. She took care of her siblings and father when their mother left them. But, later on, she struggled between taking care of them and pursuing what she wants. In season 9, she moved elsewhere and became successful in the real estate venture.
Shameless season 11 will premiere on Sunday, Dec. 6, on Showtime.
