The Conners season 3 episode 6 is arriving next week on ABC, with the title "Protest, Drug Test and One Leaves the Nest." The sitcom is diving more into addressing topical issues, with the titular family feeling the impact of the pandemic. Now, the focus will be on Harris Conner-Healy (Emma Kenney) and her job.

In The Conners season 3 episode 6, Harris takes a stand on what she believes it not knowing that her actions could lead to some dire consequences. Based on the synopsis, she joins a protest to fight for the things she believes, putting her job in jeopardy in the process.

Harris' action also leads to a tense discussion within the family. She's going to put her job at risk to voice out what she thinks is right. However, she didn't think about the consequences of her actions and could hugely impact her future.

Harris wasn't frequently seen in the sitcom, mostly because of Kenney's major role in Showtime's Shameless. Her story in the Roseanne spin-off proved to be significant, as it shows how brave the character is in standing for what she believes in even if there are ramifications along the way.

Meanwhile, The Conners season 3 episode 6 will also see Jackie Harris (Laure Metcalf) visiting the Wellman Plastic. But then, she found out that the company institutes supervised drug testing. The situation inspires Becky Conner (Lecy Goranson) in starting and leading her own protest.

The series has been incorporating relevant topics in the real world, which will continue in The Conners season 3 episode 6. But, while it addresses serious topical issues, the sitcom delivers the stories in lighthearted and funny scenes.

As for what story was tackled in episode 5, "Friends in High Places and Horse Surgery," Darlene Conner-Healey's (Sara Gilbert) storyline is at the center of it. She and her boss developed a close friendship, and because of her positive attitude and confidence, she was promoted quickly.

However, the situation gets complicated when Becky couldn't leave her baby behind and go to work. Darlene was affected after seeing Becky's woes. Even though Emilio (Rene Rosado) is there to take care of the kid, Becky wishes to stay longer and spend more time with her daughter.

Darlene didn't understand it since she started working right after giving birth -- she's expecting her sister to do the same. The siblings got into a fight because of this. When Darlene invited her boss over for dinner, Becky behaved with hostility towards their guest.

The Conners season 3 episode 6 airs on Wednesday, Dec. 2, on ABC.
