J-Hope has a very bright and bubbly personality that many people see him as a happy go lucky kind of guy. However, the truth is that despite his laid-back vibe, the BTS rapper is extremely serious when it comes to his craft.

The 26-year-old rapper, songwriter, and record producer is someone who knows when to be silly and when to be professional. In fact, RM considers J-Hope as the second leader of BTS. Jin even gave him the “Next Leader” award in BTS‘s 2020 Season’s Greetings for his dedication and positive influence on the members.

But J-Hope’s passion and leadership didn’t start during his trainee days. The BTS star revealed that he already had a clear goal at a young age.

“I had a firm goal of what my dreams were in the sixth grade, so I think that’s why I was so ready to reach my dreams early on… This might sound funny, but I started to have a firm assurance that I would become a singer since that time,” he said.

Unfortunately for J-Hope, his father was not a huge fan of his dream. Even though the BTS rapper didn’t get support from his dad when he was young, his mother gave him everything he needed to pursue his goal. She even worked several jobs just to pay for his academy.

But things became financially difficult for J-Hope’s parents that he was left with no choice but to quit the academy. Despite the huge step back, the “Chicken Noodle Soup” hitmaker was still determined to make his dream a reality.

Now, J-Hope is a member of the biggest boy band on the planet. He is considered to be one of the best dancers in the K-pop world. The BTS star is also celebrated for his producing and songwriting skills.

In 2016, J-Hope released a song dedicated to his mother, titled “Mama.” The idol poured his heart out in the track as he expressed his gratitude towards his mom.

In one of his earlier birthday celebrations, J-Hope’s dad surprised him in a pre-recorded video, telling him how proud he is of his son. JH couldn’t stop the tears from falling after finally getting the acknowledgment that he wanted from his father since he was a young boy.

With his parents, members, and ARMYs’ love and support, J-Hope achieved the goal that he was aiming for when he was in sixth grade. BTS’s success didn’t happen overnight as they faced many struggles along the way, and they are still facing difficulties until today. But the boys have now learned to give themselves some slack and just enjoy life one day at a time.
