Vikings season 6 is currently on hiatus, with the second part slated to come out before the year ends. This is the final installment of the historical drama series, and there have been speculations as to who could potentially return before the story wraps up -- including John Kavanagh's The Seer.
Fans are excited to see what's coming in the second half of Vikings season 6. There are only a handful of episodes left, and viewers have been wondering if there'll be some deaths, as well as major returns. Considering the nature of the show, there is a possibility that someone from the dead is coming back.
The Seer is one of the most important characters in the series. He acts as a prophet and is considered a "higher being" because of its connection with the Gods. He's also responsible for shaping Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).
The Seer was part of the series for five seasons. But then, he met his tragic death after Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) killed him when he told him that he wasn't destined to become a God. Fans were shocked by this twist as they believed the former was untouchable due to the nature of his being.
But, even though he's physically dead, The Seer still shows up in visions. For instance, he appeared to Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) when he doubted his position as King. Now, series creator Michael Hirst teased that the character may not be dead and will return in Vikings season 6.
Hirst said that Ivar will drastically change in the second half of the final installment if ever The Seer returns. This is very likely since he already appeared in visions in three episodes of the first half. Only a few things were known about the character, and it is a chance to further flesh his story out.
Some suggest that he may have taken other life forms after his actual death. It can be recalled that The Seer mentioned he's trapped between life and death, which could mean he's a God stuck in the form of a human. Hence, there is a huge chance he is coming back in Vikings season 6.
Meanwhile, there is speculation that The Seer handed his role to someone else, possibly to Floki. Others theorized he would take over the role after The Seer kissed Floki's hand -- an act when someone earns the higher rank. However, the fate of the latter is unknown after being trapped in a cave in Iceland.
Vikings season 6 is expected to drop its second half at the end of 2020 on History.
