Vikings season 6 has no official return date, but the second half is expected to come out before 2020 ends. Despite the lack of release date news, fans have been getting updates as to what's coming next in the story. For instance, there are speculations that Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) could emerge at some point.
Floki's fate is in question after he went missing in the cave, with some presuming he's dead already. During the first half of Vikings season 6, he traveled to Iceland since he was eager to find new settlements and learn more about the gods.
Floki took a group of villagers from Kattegat with him but they disagreed with his leadership. Eventually, he abandoned them and ended up in a cave, which collapsed on him. Now, fans have been wondering whether or not the character survives his current situation.
If he is dead, there is a possibility that Floki reunited with his friend Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) in Valhalla. The latter was killed off back in season 4 and there have been hints that some of his family members -- particularly his wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) -- reunited with him in the afterlife.
When Lagertha died, her body was cast into the ocean. Once it hit the seafloor, Ragnar seemingly emerged next to her and they're now together again. Fans speculated that the same thing could happen to Floki and he'll join his best friend in Valhalla.
Yet, he could also be heading in a different direction in the event that he, indeed, died. Floki could come in contact again with Christian monk Athelstan (George Blagden). He ended up killing him early in the series since he's against Christian beliefs. He considered him a threat to Ragnar and his people.
Floki saw a crucifix before the cave collapsed, hinting that the legacy of Athelstan won't leave him. He may have come in contact with the Christian monk if he was sent to Valhalla. This would be a major part of his redemption for everything he's done.
However, others suggest that an alternative fate is being set up for Floki in Vikings season 6. He possibly survived his ordeal in the cave and managed to find a way back home. Some suggested that Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) finds him alive and living well while exploring new lands.
One fan on Reddit noted that Ubbe will find Floki living with the Native Americans. This speculation was further fueled after a teaser clip showed the former with an unknown group of people, which could be a new tribe. For now, fans have to wait and see what the future holds for Floki.
