Prince Charles has expressed his support for the government's new campaign to fix the pressing global problem of climate change. BBC Countryfile has launched Plant Britain with the goal of planting and growing 750,000 trees across the United Kingdom for the next two years.

The specific number represents the children who will be starting primary school in the United Kingdom this year. Prince Charles shared his support via a video post on his official Instagram profile, @Clarence House.

Plant Britain is a collaboration with the Woodland Trust, which will supply free tree packs for planting. Participants of this initiative will be able to track their trees via an online interactive map, which may be publicly accessed as well.

Joining Prince Charles in supporting the initiative are British actress Dame Judi Dench, Queen lead guitarist Brian May and British model Lesley Lawson, who is more popularly known as Twiggy. These famous people also made videos of why tree-planting activities matter, especially for the next generation.

As an environmentalist and climate change activist, Prince Charles has been planting and growing trees at his estate in Highgrove House for decades. The royal has a ritual of giving tree branches a "handshake" with every tree-planting ceremony, believing that this practice will bring good vibes.

Prince Charles also admits that he likes to talk to his plants and believes that they respond to him. However, in the book Highgrove: Portrait of an Estate, he initially didn't have any experience with gardening or planting when he acquired his Gloucestershire property in the 1980s. But he knew that he wanted to develop Highgrove House and leave it in the best condition than when he first found the site.

Meanwhile, Clarence House's official Instagram account has since turned on the comments section after days of disabling the feature due to an increase in trolling activities directed against the Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. The royal pair received angry reactions because of The Crown season 4 on Netflix, where their affair was one of the main storylines.

Clarence House nor Prince Charles and Camilla never addressed the backlash except to turn off the comments on their social media profiles. Friends of the Prince of Wales have been vocal about their criticisms against the Netflix royal drama by saying it's propaganda against the heir to the throne.
