After eight years, fans are about to see Lelouch Lamperouge back on the small screen with the new Code Geass anime series. That's not all. Fans are also up for a big treat as there will be a new smartphone game coming.

Code Geass announced the new anime and game on Lelouch's birthday last Saturday, December 5. Titled Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, fans will see Lelouch go on a new adventure and perform a series of action sequences.

The franchise dropped a new video, called Next 10 Years Project, on its official YouTube channel, giving a recap of its past series and teasing what is to come. Its creator, Ichirō Ōkouchi, also talked about making the anime and its future projects lined up.

Anitrendz noted the franchise also dropped a promotional image that gave a new look at the character designs seen on its official website. The new anime series' official staff was also revealed, showing who would be working behind the camera.

Yoshimitsu Oohashi will direct Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, while Noboru Kimura writes the script. The manga artist group CLAMP handles the original character designs, while Takahiro Kimura and Astrays play as character designer and Knightmare designer, respectively. Sunrise also has something to do with the production.

In addition, there will also be a Code Geass smartphone game, called Code Geass: Genesic Re: CODE, Epic Dope noted. It will carry an RPG and stimulation elements that will allow the player to choose and learn new discoveries within the gameplay.

The newly-dropped trailer showed Lelouch, Akito, and other characters from the series that the player could choose to explore their different storylines. It would also include the original plotline and a lot of exclusive illustrations from the franchise.

Meanwhile, these two latest Code Geass projects are part of its new ten-year plan after the release of the movie Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. According to Comicbook, the series producer Tojiro Kaniguchi previously revealed the title would return with the said scheme.

The film picked up where the anime series ended, making fans wonder how it could continue the story. With the announcement of Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, it was the next phase of the major plan that fans hoped to see.

Code Geass: Z of the Recapture and Code Geass: Genesic Re: CODE are set to be out in 2021.
