Vikings season 6 will be delivering its final 10 episodes before the year ends. The historical drama is concluding, and fans wonder whether some notable characters in the past will return. Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), in particular, is speculated to be making his final appearance.
Although nothing is officially confirmed, fans were convinced that Ragnar is returning in the second half of Vikings season 6. This speculation first emerged shortly after a revealing trailer featuring Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) was unveiled.
Ragnar is the main protagonist of the series when it debuted. However, he was killed at the end of the fourth installment. The story has since then shifted its focus to his son Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), who's doing his best to fulfill his father's legacy.
After the tragic death of his mother Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Bjorn was almost killed by his half-brother Ivar. The first half of the current installment left his fate in question, but it was confirmed that he's still alive. Now, the ultimate battle between the two brothers is imminent.
The series finale will continue the events that happened in "The Best laid Plans." Bjorn fights for his life after Ivar stabbed him in the chest. The final showdown between the two will be bloody, with some may not make it out alive until the end.
It seems like Ragnar is coming back in the Vikings season 6 to take Ivar down once and for all. This comes after an intriguing clip was released, wherein the latter can be heard saying: "It's impossible." An unknown figure is approaching him, with fans suspecting his father's return.
Ragnar is an iconic character and many believe that he could make a final appearance -- along with Lagertha -- before the series officially ends. However, the show hasn't ventured into resurrections so it was suspected that, if ever they appear, they would be in the afterlife, Valhalla.
Meanwhile, the second half of Vikings season 6 is officially coming before the year ends. But, instead of History Channel, the remaining 10 episodes will be available on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming platform secured the final run of the hit series.
Viewers in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Austria, and Ireland will be the first ones to get the final batch of episodes. There is no official announcement when the second half is coming on History Channel, but it will be available on the network at some point in 2021.
Vikings season 6 returns on Wednesday, Dec. 30, on Amazon Prime Video.
