Paris Saint-Germain announced that negotiation is now underway to keep Kylian Mbappe playing for the French champions beyond 2022. Speculations are rife that the World Cup is being actively pursued by Real Madrid and Liverpool but the Parisians are convinced that their prized striker will agree to an extension.

PSG acquired Mbappe in 2018 for £166 million and the forward has never failed to impress since. He has been a key factor in the Parisians' successive Ligue 1 title wins and was instrumental in the club's Champions League final appearance this year.

The 21-year-old's excellent form is sustained in the ongoing campaign. He has already cleared 10 goals and figured in seven assists in 13 games and there is no stopping Mbappe from his record-breaking activities on the pitch.

The Frenchman now holds the distinction as the youngest player to score 20 goals in UCL matches, thus overtaking the record set by Lionel Messi. So it's not hard to imagine that PSG will want the dominating forward to keep representing Parc des Princes.

The Guardian reported that PSG seemed "very confident" that Mbappe has no plans of leaving. The two parties are now locked in a discussion for an extension deal but the Parisians made clear that already Mbappe showed signs of continuing with the French giants.

However, the young superstar has the option to bring his football to a bigger stage and two teams are emerging as strong candidates. If Mbappe declines a new deal with PSG and the latter opts to cash in on him, it is believed that Real Madrid will be in a pole position to land the prolific goalscorer.

For one, Real boss Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of his fellow French national and in turn, Mbappe is a long-time supporter of the La Liga giants. Mutual admiration will likely prompt the two to work together and give Madrid a huge advantage in winning Mbappe's signature.

And if a deal is sealed between Real and the PSG ace, the financial aspect of the agreement is not seen as a problem as Los Blancos are believed to have the resources to pay for the transfer fee and Mbappe's salary. The striker is thought to be getting around £550,000 from PSG as weekly pay.

On Liverpool's part, the money-well is not too deep as previously admitted by team manager Jurgen Klopp. But according to Mirror, the Reds have something that Real cannot offer - a stronger "sporting guarantee."

The term points to a higher chance of success, both on the personal and club levels. It means that with Liverpool, Mbappe has a greater opportunity to win league titles, the Champions League, and possibly the Ballon d'Or.

The Reds are the reigning Premier League champions and held the 2020 UCL title. The Liverpool lineup is considered one of the strongest in Europe and Mbappe getting on board is surely a lethal addition.
