Camilla Parker-Bowles attended a royal engagement with a special companion who stole the crowd's attention as they opened a new kennel in Battersea on Wednesday.

The Duchess of Cornwall graced the opening of a new state-of-the-art kennel at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home with her rescued Jack Russell, Beth. Together, Camilla and Beth unveiled the plaque commemorating the kennel's opening. The dog happily bit on the sausage tied to the rope attached to the plaque's curtains.

After removing the curtains, Camilla cheered on Beth for a job well done. The Duchess of Cornwall also joked that the people might think they're not feeding the pooch because of the way she grabbed the sausage.

Camilla adopted Beth from the same animal rescue site almost nine years ago, along with her sister Bluebell. The other dog, a mutt, was also at the event but she had to stay inside the car because of a leg injury.

Prince Charles' wife became the patron of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2017. Its new kennel is featured with music and sensory plants to lessen stress among the dogs. The site also comes with four heated blocks, a chill-out room, and a maternity area.

Meanwhile, Camilla joined the rest of the royal family in a special reunion with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle on Tuesday night. However, Judi James, a body language expert said that the Duchess of Cornwall appeared to be distracted.

James said that Camilla was standing back in the line-up with the rest of the royal family, looking rigid and awkward. Prince Charles and his mother, the Queen, engaged in a conversation, as well as Kate Middleton and Prince William, while the Duchess of Cornwall seemed tense, according to the expert.

It comes as Camilla received a spate of attacks from social media trolls because of The Crown season 4, which revisited the events of Prince Charles' doomed marriage to Princess Diana and his relationship with Camilla. Clarence House had to turn off the comments feature of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall's social media profiles because of these attacks.

A royal aide said that the Duchess of Cornwall was not used to social media and the internet before the pandemic lockdown. However, they had to learn to be online and connect with people, as well as remain visible among the charities they patronized. Unfortunately, they needed to implement new measures in the comments section as the attacks continue.
