Camilla Parker-Bowles will hold the distinction of sitting next to the King once her husband, Prince Charles, assumes the British throne after Queen Elizabeth. However, an expert believes that the Duchess of Cornwall will be very careful and "stay in the background" during her husband's reign for a very personal reason.

According to royal author Clive Irving, Camilla's tainted past as Prince Charles' mistress will continue to hover over some royal fans' perceptions. Thus, she will continue to be seen as "the Diana destroyer" despite her strong 15-year-marriage to the Prince of Wales.

Irving said that this would be Camilla's burden as the consort, which has bothered the royal family in the past. Other royal experts agreed with Irving's analysis since it took Queen Elizabeth some time to accept Prince Charles' relationship with Camilla, even years after Princess Diana's death.

Royal courtiers were also adamant about removing Camilla's "mistress" tag when Prince Charles became a free man. However, the Queen believed that this image change needed to be done at the proper timing.

But when Prince Charles becomes King, Camilla will not be called the Queen Consort, despite the customary title. Instead, the Duchess of Cornwall will be the Princess Consort, as Clarence House confirmed.

According to Tatler, the title was apparently decided on to appease those who might still take it against the couple for having an affair. It was reiterated as reports came to light that Prince Charles might push for Camilla to be named Queen once he is King.

However, Clarence House debunked this speculation and stated that the title of Princess Consort was made known when the royal pair married in 2005. That decision has never changed.

However, some royal insiders claimed that Camilla might not even have the chance to sit on the throne next to Prince Charles. Allegedly, the Queen plans to bypass her son by giving the crown straight to Prince William, the second in line to the throne.

Sources implied that Camilla is not happy with this rumor, and she's allegedly letting Kate know of her displeasure. Because of this conflict, chaos between the houses has ensued.

But some royal insiders said the Queen has grown fond of her daughter-in-law since her marriage to Prince Charles. Lady Anne Glenconner, the Queen's lady-in-waiting, told Daily Express that Her Majesty realized that her son needed someone like Camilla, who makes him very happy, so these talks of bypassing the royal pair could be further from the truth.
