The Hanteo Chart is a real-time chart that collects the album sales from Hanteo-certified stores. It is considered one of Korea's most credible music charts since it delivers a close estimation of total album sales.

Music shows also use Hanteo's sales figures for the physical sales points to compute the artists' final score for the week.

In contrast, the Gaon Chart counts all the copies shipped to all stores globally. Those shipped out are immediately counted as sold even though they were shipped to retailers and music stores. Figures from Gaon are used for yearend awards shows.
