A post from Xiaomi's CEO confirmed that customers should not expect to see any charger from the boxes of its upcoming Mi 11 smartphones.

After making fun of Apple for not including power bricks from its new iPhone 12 lineup, Xiaomi announces it will also omit a charger from its upcoming Mi 11 smartphones. Early in December, rival Samsung also announced it would no longer include chargers in its upcoming flagship smartphone.

When Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 family on October 13 during the company's "Hi, Speed" event, smartphone rivals such as Samsung and Xiaomi openly mocked the Cupertino tech giant for making the move. Recently, both companies seem to double back as each of them announce they will follow Apple's path and also omit chargers from their new flagship smartphones. Samsung already announced such during the early part of December while recently, Xiaomi's CEO confirmed that they are also omitting chargers from their upcoming Mi 11 flagship smartphone.

Users recall that on October 13, Samsung wasted no time in making fun of Apple online as it posted a tweet showing an image of a power brick and captioned it with "Your Galaxy does give you what you are looking for. From the most basic as a charger, to the best camera, battery, performance, memory and even 120Hz screen on a smartphone." The following day, Xiaomi posted a tweet of a video showing a Mi 10T Pro box which someone opens to show a power brick inside. The company captioned the tweet with "Don't worry, we didn't leave anything out of the box with the #Mi10TPro." Today, Xiaomi announced it would omit chargers in its upcoming Mi 11 smartphone boxes.

Xiaomi's confirmation about dropping the chargers from its upcoming Mi 11 smartphone came by way of a post from its CEO. Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO, posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo that his company will omit chargers from boxes of its new Mi 11 smartphones. Like Apple, Xiaomi's CEO also cited environmental concerns as the main reason why they arrived at such decision. He also said that since users already own chargers, they no longer need a new one for the Mi 11 device, which is exactly the same reason that the Cupertino tech giant cited when it unveiled the iPhone 12 last October 13.

It is unclear whether Xiaomi would also replicate Apple's move in not including EarPods in its iPhone 12 boxes. For now, what is clear is that the company will omit chargers from boxes of upcoming Mi 11 smartphones. Xiaomi did refer, though, to the thinness of its new boxes, similar to what Apple stated in October. Industry observers say that perhaps Xiaomi now believes consumers are ready to buy accessories separately.
