The Resident season 4 is premiering within a few weeks on Fox, with the title "A Wedding, A Funeral." There is a huge storyline at the center of the first episode, with Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) and Nic Nevin's (Emily VanCamp) wedding being the major season opener.

Conrad and Nic's relationship has been challenged in the past, but they're finally tying the knot in the premiere of The Resident season 4. According to the synopsis, the couple is preparing for their wedding day with their family and friends.

In one of the recent clips, Conrad and Nic can be seen exchanging heartfelt vows with a picturesque setting in their background. Other characters are also celebrating the event now that the couple is starting a new chapter of their lives.

Even though their marriage could face issues in the future, these challenges make their bond stronger. In a previous interview with TVLine, co-creator Amy Holden teased that Conrad and Nic's devotion for each other -- and their patients -- is an example of "love for us all."

Viewers can expect a lot of happy moments in The Resident season 4, despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. While the health crisis would be a significant part of the premiere, the medical drama won't dwell on this storyline for too long.

In fact, the first episode will only feature a flashback during the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak. That means the pandemic storyline wasn't set in the present time, where Conrad and Nic's wedding occurs. It'll show how the doctors and other medical staff at Chastain Memorial deal with the virus.

However, the biggest concern in the premiere is that the title comes with "A Funeral." This seemed to be concerning, given that previous teasers showed certain characters struggling with their health issues. This might be one of the major effects of the COVID-19 pandemic for them.

In another report, The Resident season 4 is introducing a new series regular on board. Gotham alum Jessica Lucas is confirmed to be joining the rest of the cast and will be playing the character of Billie. She is someone who has a significant connection with Nic.

Billie was once a top neurosurgery resident at Chastain. But then, she was removed from her position after committing a tragic error. Nic, who knew this person since she was a kid, wants her back to the hospital. The problem here is that Billie's temper could cause chaos in the room.

The Resident season 4 is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, on Fox.
