Prodigal Son season 2 episode 1 is coming within a few weeks on Fox, with the title "It's All in the Execution." Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) will be dealing with the aftermath of the Season 2 finale, particularly after what his sister, Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage), did.

Prodigal Son season 2 episode 1 picks up the massive cliffhanger at the end of the second installment. Ainsley went on a dark path and killed someone because of that. She doesn't remember what she did, and Malcolm has to find ways to protect his sister.

While trying to figure out how to handle the situation, he must deal with a particular case simultaneously. There's a lot on his plate right now, and most of this will play out through most of the latest installment. His personal life has been hugely impacted because of the recent happenings in his life.

Prodigal Son season 2 episode 1 sees Malcolm's life turning upside down following Ainsley's shocking actions. He will try to "take care" of his younger sister despite what happened. He will also protect his mother, Jessica (Bellamy Young), from a secret that could ruin their family again.

Malcolm tried to divert his attention by distracting himself on a new case. He needs to find a killer responsible for the recent beheading in the city. To do this, he needs the help of a specific person -- his father, Martin Whitly -- to locate the murderer.

As for what else viewers can expect in Prodigal Son season 2 episode 1, Martin is coming back to Claremont to surprise a new roommate (Michael Chernus). On the other hand, JT Tarmel (Frank Harts) faced discrimination while out in the field doing his job.

Beyond the premiere, the second installment will also introduce new characters who have specific ties to Martin. Christian Borle plays Friar Pete, an "hazardous character." He's was removed from the church because of his extremist views.

Friar Pete becomes famous for his notorious killing spree, and he eventually ended up in a psychiatric ward with Martin. This person knows a lot about Malcolm's father, and he's going to be a key consultant in Bright's latest case.

Meanwhile, Michael Potts plays Dr. Brandon Marsh, the new therapist of Martin at Claremont. He's also going to play a significant part in the life of Malcolm's father. He is striving hard to have a breakthrough with his psychiatric patients.

Prodigal Son season 2 episode 1 airs on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, on Fox.
