Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 is the first episode of the police procedural airing in 2021. Only two episodes were aired in this calendar year, leaving fans excited about what lies ahead for the characters. Now, here is what viewers can anticipate in "Tender Age."

Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 brings a significant storyline for Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). She has to make a huge decision for her future after being approached with a new job offer from the FBI. The question now is: will she leave the department for this new opportunity?

The series has already featured similar departures in the past, particularly Erin Lindsay's (Sophia Bush) exit. Upton is Lindsay's replacement after the latter decided to leave Chicago and accept a job offer from the FBI in New York. Hence, there is a real concern when it comes to Upton's future in the department.

But then, she may choose to stay because of the important people in her life -- specifically Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). In the promo of Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3, Upton can be seen talking to the Senior Detective and seemingly convincing him to tell her not to go.

She is clearly in love with Halstead, and she's just waiting for him to make a move. The latter hasn't confronted his feeling for Upton, as well. This could be the right time for both of them to start something romantic and admit their feeling for each other.

Meanwhile, Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) takes on the latest case in Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3. The two discovered a child walking alone in the middle of the street. They take the kid home but found out that her family has been murdered.

This case might be a little bit personal for both Ruzek and Burgess, considering what they've been through as of late. They're still dealing with the recent loss of their unborn baby after the latter suffered a miscarriage. Thus, they might be sympathetic toward the child's feelings.

Beyond this, the series will continue to bring stories focusing on the issues surrounding the policing world -- such as police reform and police brutality. This will be a huge part of the latest installment, with the storylines reflecting the events in the real world.

Chicago P.D. season 8 episode 3 is scheduled to air on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, on NBC.
