Karlie Kloss has become the face of many headlines these past few days because of her controversial tweet. Apart from being a popular model, she is, also, the wife of Josh Kushner, who is Ivanka Trump's brother-in-law. Accordingly, it makes total sense why her statements about the recent debacle in the U.S. Capitol immediately caught the attention of the public.

On Thursday, the 28-year-old celebrity described what "patriotic" is in the wake of the violent riot. She said that "accepting the results of a legitimate democratice election" is what it is, adding that "refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American."

Several netizens responded to her post and urged her to tell that to her in-laws, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. In one of those comments, Karlie Kloss shocked many Twitter users when she replied that she has already done it. Harper's Bazaar, then, reported that she specifically stated that she has "tried" to convince them.

CNN's Kate Bennett quickly shared the exchange of conversation on her own social media account. Publications have since released similar reports about the matter, including even some of the allegations about the model's relationship with the First Daughter and the Kushner family.

Karlie Kloss has a "complicated" relationship with the Kushner family, according to Town and Country. Even before her wedding to Josh Kushner in 2018, the clan was already "openly critical" of her as they did not, reportedly, approve of the pair's romantic links.

The patriarch and matriarch of the Kushners, allegedly, "disliked" the fashion model "in part" because she did not come from a Jewish family. Moreover, Ivanka Trump's husband, also, shared his parents' opinions of Kloss, noting that he deemed her "not smart."

Alongside this dynamic, the complications of the model's relationship with the family lie, as well, on her and her husband's political views. There is a "political divide" within the family as Karlie and Josh are "lifelong Democrats." She even previously emphasized both in 2016 and 2020 that she voted as a Democrat.

Before Karlie Kloss's tweet, Ivanka Trump, also, released a post on Twitter, sharing her comments regarding the riot at the U.S. Capitol. She referred to the demonstrators as "American patriots," a move that has since been slammed by netizens.

Hours after releasing her statement, the First Daughter deleted her post on Twitter and clarified that she was "misunderstood," according to People. She, later on, pointed out that what is patriotic is a "peaceful protest," and that "violence is unacceptable."
