The Curse of Oak Island season 8 has seen brothers Rick and Marty Laginas, along with their team, making a lot of significant discoveries on the mysterious island. Their latest focus is the serpent mound they previously unearthed, which might have tied to the Knights Templar.

At the moment, there's still a question regarding the origin of the serpent mound and whether it is artificial or man-made. In previous episodes of The Curse of Oak Island season 8, the fellowship made further excavations in order to learn more about the Knights Templar.

The swamp, in particular, remains to be the major focus of the excavation. They suspected the stone structure in the swamp might be a roadway. The team has been trying to figure out whether the sea, the swamp, and the roadway are connected.

There's speculation that the roadway served as a path for the seafarers to unload treasures -- presumably the Money Pit. Alex Lagina attempted to find out more about it but couldn't find any evidence due to the poor visibility in the murky depths.

The analysis of the serpent mound, on the other hand, suggests that it's dated back to the Knights Templar. If this turns out to be true, it'll be "one of the most important features discovered" in North America. The team will try to look for more answers to prove this.

According to Doug Crowell's theory, the serpent mound was made by the Knights Templar members. Craig Tester further supported the theory, noting that the charcoal from its structure was estimated to be dated from 1320 to 1440.

This is going to be the huge focus in the next episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8. In the previous installment, the Knights Templar theory was already essential for the team. They believed that the religious and holy order were the ones who buried the Money Pit on the island.

Beyond discovering the potential roadway and serpent mound, the fellowship uncovered other clues in the early run of the current installment. For instance, an old gold coin was suspected of belonging to the Chinese, dated back to 900 AD. They also discovered oxen-foot trail and believed that they were used to unload treasures in the Money Pit.

The Curse of Oak Island season 8 is airing its new episodes every Tuesday night on History Channel.
