Girls' Generation Hyoyeon personally responded to allegations that she knew something about anomalies in the Burning Sun scandal.

According to a report by Soompi, Hyoyeon was implicated by Burning Sun whistleblower Kim Sang Hyo in the scandal by revealing that she performed as a DJ in the club on November 24, 2018.

Kim Sang Hyo claimed that she was present that night and that Hyoyeon met the VVIPs who arrived. He said Hyoyeon must step forward to reveal who assaulted him and who was the actress who took drugs. The original post was deleted after SM Entertainment made its statement.

According to the agency, Hyoyeon was hired as DJ for the event and was not involved in any anomalies that happened that night. They asked the public to refrain from posting speculations and malicious comments.

It can be recalled that Kim Sang Hyo was the first person who was linked in the Burning Sun controversy. On the night of November 28, 2018, he was reportedly assaulted by the establishment's security guards and staff. Police were called to investigate, but it was Kim Sang Hyo who was arrested as the assailant. Later, he accused police officers of beating him up, a report from All Kpop indicated.

Despite her agency's official statement, Hyoyeon still decided to speak up for herself through an Instagram post.

According to the Girls' Generation member, she wanted to respond to keyboard warriors who were maligning her name with baseless speculations. Following Kim Sang Hyo's allegations, netizens went on the attack and posted negative comments on Hyoyeon's social media accounts

In her post, she said that even though she was going to take down her post later, she was going to sternly scold those who were attacking her without knowing the truth.

Hyoyeon said that she was only in Burning Sun that night because she was performing as a DJ. She acknowledged that she had a drink with a friend and met a lot of people who congratulated her on her performance. She said she also saw many people behaving in a typical way as they would at a party but clarified that she did not see any drooling actresses, actors, or animals.

She also clarified that she would only make the post available for a day, just to air out her frustrations at her accusers. She said she is not scared of her critics but felt like she should respond because she did not want to be a pushover.
