Nearly two years have passed since Chris Evans played the role of Captain America. While they already made confirmations that he will no longer return to play the role, several speculations recently emerged that he might reprise the character in future Marvel projects.

Cheat Sheet covered a discussion among Redditors, wherein they shared theories on how Evans will likely return. One of the netizens suggested that there is a potential if a "Skrull pretends to be Captain America" for the Secret Invasion storyline. Another Marvel fan conceded that this is the most sensible and plausible way for the character to return.

Apart from the theories on Reddit, the talks about Chris Evans' possible return to the world of Marvel emerged after sources claimed that he is "expected to reprise his role" in future Marvel projects. The news first came from Deadline earlier this month, adding that it is already allegedly "headed in that direction."

Insiders emphasized, however, that the projects will not likely be an installment to his stand-alone Captain America films. It will, reportedly, be like what Robert Downey Jr. did in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

While the speculations continue to develop in recent weeks, Marvel did not comment on the matter. Nevertheless, the Gifted actor seemingly hinted at the truth behind the reports.

A day after the news broke the headlines, Chris Evans took his "vague" response to Twitter saying, "News to me," to his fans and followers. Insider released a report about the move, noting that the actor appeared to have denied the comeback rumors.

Although the Avengers star did not directly state that the reports are all false, publications, as well as netizens, believe that his social media post is already an effort on his part to debunk the speculations. This is why many Twitter users immediately expressed their disappointments and sadness in the comment section.

Chris Evans has since remained silent about the matter. But, his co-star Anthony Mackie broke his silence and shared his thoughts in an interview earlier this week, according to Coming Soon.

Speaking to an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 8 Mile actor addressed the rumors after the hosts asked him about it amid the recording. He revealed that he has heard all about the speculations and reports.

Mackie, then, stated that he would be very happy "if they are getting the band back together." Apart from this, though, he no longer made any comment regarding the reports.
