Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once became one of the most popular Hollywood couples. But, after more than a decade of relationship, the Wanted actress filed for divorce from her then-husband.

The International News revisited one of the Troy actor's interviews, wherein he opened up about the matter. Speaking to GQ, he said that it is "very jarring for the kids to suddenly have their family ripped apart."

Pitt noted, though, that their focus at that time is to "come out stronger and better people," adding that "there is no other outcome."

Up to this day, no one knows why Angelina Jolie filed for divorce. She and Brad Pitt have always refused to share the details of their split.

Glamour reported that the actress cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the fallout. She, also, requested the primary custody of their six children upon filing the divorce documents in 2016.

The former couple's lawyer did, however, release an official statement regarding the matter. Robert Offer said that the divorce happened for the "health of the family." He, then, stated that Jolie would not comment as the family asked for privacy.

TMZ broke the story later in September 2016, though, that it all seemingly started when Brad Pitt allegedly "lunged" at their then-15-year-old son. Sources claimed that the former couple was arguing on a flight back from France.

Maddox, reportedly, jumped up to defend the Maleficent actress in a verbal manner. The Ad Astra star, then, "lunged at the boy and Angelina jumped in between" the two. However, insiders asserted that the actor made contact with his son, and his then-wife felt that the incident was a "deal breaker." Pitt, later on, denied all the allegations.

Cheat Sheet released a report, as well, about the debacle. As recalled, it all led to a child abuse investigation. While Brad Pitt was later cleared from it, the whole ordeal has since allegedly caused a rift between him and Maddox.

Years after maintaining her silence, Angelina Jolie opened up about the reason why she filed for divorce. Amid the pandemic crisis, she sat down for an interview with Vogue, wherein she gave a general response about the drama.

The actress shared that she separated "for the wellbeing" of her family, deeming it as the "right decision." She continued that many have already taken advantage of her and her children's silence. But, despite all the "lies" they see in the media, Jolie said that she always reminds them of "their own truth and their own minds."
