Malcolm Bring (Tom Payne) is going to deal with another murder case in Prodigal Son season 2 episode 4. However, the biggest problem for him is that his father, Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen), will be involved in his latest investigation.
Prodigal Son season 2 episode 4 is titled "Take Your Father to Work Day," which is a reference to Bright working alongside Martin. This will be a challenging case for him, but his father seemed to be delighted that they need his help.
A murder happened in Claremont Psychiatric, prompting the NYPD to go to Martin's territory. Based on the promo, he is happy that such an incident occurred as it gives him an opportunity to be involved in Bright's latest case. Yet, his son isn't pleased that they're working together.
In the previous episode, Bright visited Martin and the two had a short conversation. He told his son that he should've owned his last name -- "the rich, dashing son of a killer." He wanted to remind him that he'll always be his "boy and Malcolm Whitly."
While dealing with this case in Prodigal Son season 2 episode 4, Bright also needs to deal with what his sister, Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage), did to Nicholas Endicott (Dermot Mulroney). She killed this man at the end of season 1, and she doesn't remember what happened at all.
Ainsley is becoming more suspicious as she thinks that Bright is hiding something from her. He loves his sister so much; that's why he never told him that she's responsible for Endicott's death. In fact, he's even willing to take all the blame if something happens.
Bright will do everything to protect his sister, though he recognized that there are many challenges in doing this. Ainsley has been going on the darker path since the first season, especially after killing Endicott. In Prodigal Son 2 episode 4, someone will arrive and show interest in this case.
Alan Cumming is set to appear as a guest star, and he's going to dig deeper about Endicott's murder case. The presence of his character could cause a lot of trouble for the siblings, especially for Bright. He must assure that there's no hole so that Ainsley's name won't be involved.
