Riot Games released in 2020 the open beta of "League of Legends: Wild Rift" to select regions in the world, particularly in Asia. The game's beta launch in Europe, Russia, North Africa, and the Middle East in the latter part of the same year. According to a new report, despite that, the game is not yet available in other parts of the world, including South and North America, "League of Legends: Wild Rift" tops the list for the most downloaded mobile title in the core game category.

The latest information comes from one of the industry's most trusted mobile data and analytics platform AppAnnie via PocketGamers. The Core classification includes competitive genres like Action RPG, MOBA and FPS. At the top of that list is "League of Legends: Wild Rift," which is the official mobile version of the decade-long PC MOBA title "League of Legends."

According to App Annie Director of Market Insights Amir Ghodrati, "From December 2020, this was further expanded to Europe, the Middle East, and Russia, making it the most downloaded game in Germany, Spain, and Italy during the month." on Jan. 22, the game reached the top spot following its successful closed beta release in September in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

It ranks first in the Overall Downloads ranking on iOS App Store and Google Play Store in at least 30 markets. Other games included in the list are the "Modern Strike: Multiplayer FPS," which sits on the second spot, "Ninja's Creed: Origins" on the third spot, and the globally phenomenal title from miHoYo "Genshin Impact" on the fourth spot.

Riot Games just launched the limited-time Ashe Trial event in the game, while the Yordle Expedition event is still available until Jan. 30. The devs also introduced five new characters through the Yordle event. This includes Kennen, Tristana, Lulu, Corki, and Teemo.

Apart from those, Riot Games announced earlier this year that it plans to roll out new characters in "League of Legends: Wild Rift" on a regular basis. At the time of this publication, the game has around 28 characters. It appears that the devs would like to release more "LoL" characters in its MOBA counterpart.

As for the game's release in South and North America, Riot Games said it is coming sometime in the Spring of 2021 or, more specifically, this March. The devs earlier explained that they intended to release the game earlier, but several issues caused by the current pandemic prevented them from doing so.

"League of Legends: Wild Rift" is now available on iOS and Android devices.
