Netflix has renewed On My Block season 4 just recently, but the streaming platform also confirmed that this will be the final installment of the teen comedy-drama. The series has been off-air since March 2020 and fans were excited to see what's coming for the teens in the final chapter.
Since the renewal was just announced on Jan. 29, 2021, the official release date of On My Block season 4 remains unknown. But, if the final installment follows the schedule of the preceding seasons, there is a possibility that it could come out in March 2021.
Back in July 2020, Netflix has been, reportedly, developing the fourth installment. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision to renew the show was pushed back. The streaming platform held back the decision until everything gets back to normal.
The entire main cast is returning for the final outing. Sierra Capri is coming back as Monse Finnie, Jason Genao as Ruby Martinez Jr., Brett Gray as Jamal Turner, Diego Tinoco as Cesar Diaz, Jessica Marie Garcia as Jasmine Flores, and Julio Macias as Spooky Diaz.
When it comes to the story, On My Block season 4 will pick up where season 3 left off. A teaser was released when the renewal was announced, with the tagline teasing that "story isn't over yet." In the previous season, Monse decided to leave Freeridge and her friends to attend an all-girls school.
She promised them that they would remain in touch even if she goes elsewhere. However, it seems like Monse didn't keep her promise as the clip sees her hanging out with her new friends in her new school. The picture of her friend in Freeridge gathered dust in the corner, as well.
It looks like things between Jamal and Ruby weren't on the good, as well. The good news is that Ruby and Jasmin were still a couple. Also, previous reports suggest that there will be a time jump in On My Block season 4, with the characters now living their adult life.
The time jump could see what the future holds of Monse and Cesar's relationship. The latter may also rise to the top of the gang and will show the things he went through in the process. In addition, it will see more of Spooky and whether or not he got out of his gang life.
While waiting for On My Block season 4, the first three seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
