Meghan Markle is not going to join Prince Harry when he returns home to the U.K. for the Trooping the Colour parade in June and while this was the buzz for some weeks, the Sussex pair's royal biographer confirmed that it is indeed the plan.
Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie told OK! that Meghan decided she won't be traveling to the U.K. in accordance with the COVID-19 restrictions. Scobie said that this is not a snub of the invitation from Queen Elizabeth, who holds an annual summer parade as her birthday celebration.
However, Harry's wife deemed it would be a more practical arrangement if she stays in Los Angeles with their son, while the Duke of Sussex returns home. Scobie insisted that Meghan and Archie will still be able to honor Queen Elizabeth in their own way. Apparently, the Sussex baby, who is 21-months-old, enjoys Zoom calls with Her Majesty.
The royal biographer also said aside from the tricky demands of bringing a baby on the plane, Harry and Meghan have not yet received their COVID-19 vaccinations. Scobie said that if there was no COVID restrictions, Meghan will definitely be at this year's Trooping the Colour. Meghan last attended the parade a month after she gave birth to Archie in 2019.
Royal expert Nigel Cawthrone said that Meghan's decision will prevent a diplomatic headache because a "dark shadow" could be hoovering over the events. The Sussex pair's arrival could take the limelight away from the significance of an important occassion. However, Harry is still expected to be home as an "emotional necessity."
A source said that plans are still up in the air because of the unpredictability of the COVID situation. But it is understood that Harry is more than likely to fly back by his lonesome.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan continue to make themselves visible in the U.S. by attending video conferences from the comforts of their home in Montecito, California. The pair recently crashed a poetry reading session from Get Lit.
The poets shared their surprise reactions in an Instagram clip after learning that Harry and Meghan love poetry. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex even got to read a few lines with the artists.
Get Lit founder Diane Luby Lane told Huffington Post that Harry and Meghan's surprise appearance was the most thrilling moment of their lives. One of the poets even cried as they tried to process what happened. Lane also said that Harry and Meghan were familiar with the names of the poets and they event took suggestions for a dinner playlist.
