The father of all mecha anime, Mobile Suit Gundam, will return with a brand new movie, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash. The franchise's official website now drops the new eight cast members joining the film, including the Attack on Titan voice actress Yui Ishikawa.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash will bring fans to a major nostalgia. More than 40 years since the original anime began; viewers will once again visit the futuristic calendar year of Universal Century 0079.
According to Epic Dope, fans will hear the voices of Kenjiro Tsuda as Gahman Nobil, Yui as Emerelda Zubin, Fukushi Ochiai as Raymond Cain, and Shunsuke Takeuchi as Masam. Also, Misato Matsuoka will join the movie as Mihesher Hence, Chiharu Sawashiro as Kenji Mitsuda, Atsumi Tanezaki as Mace Flower, and Koichi Yamadera as Hundley Yeoksam.
Anime News Network added the previously announced cast members include Kensho Ono as Hathaway Noa, Reina Ueda as Gigi Andalucia, Junichi Suwabe as Kenneth Sleg, and Soma Saito as Lane Aim.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash also drops its official trailer, featuring the protagonist Noa Hathaway. The clip gives a glimpse of the new scenes fans are about to see in the anime movie.
Based on Yoshiyuki Tomino's novel series, Senko no Hathaway, the film will feature the fight between the evil organization Mafty and the Earth Federation.
The new movie will give the classic franchise a major makeover, per Comicbook. It will be setting up the world of "greys" with the return of the original cast.
Fans are about to witness an updated animation in a mecha universe that will be now filled with a colourful cast of characters. Aside from the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash movie, fans will be treaited with a special program on the franchise's official YouTube Gundam Channel.
It will give viewers a glimpse of how the movie was developed and other behind the scenes, titled Hathaway's Report - The Flash of Hathaway Guide. The upcoming film will be the first of the three movies that will explore the other side of the mecha universe where it all began.
The movie was supposed to be out in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused its delay. Anyhow, after a long wait, it will be finally out in 214 theaters, the franchise's record high, when it drops on Friday, May 7. It will be screened in 4D and Dolby Cinema on its opening day.
