Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, counts Angelina Jolie and Jordan royalty Queen Raina as some of her fashion inspirations and spoke about their style during the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design's online ceremony,

The wife of Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, revealed that she thinks the Hollywood actress always looks amazingand Queen Rania is the embodiment of stunning. Sophie takes points from their style but thinks her own fashion has evolved and developed over time.

While the countess said she will usually go for classics, she likes putting some new twists to her wardrobe as well. Sophie also agreed with the other guest who said that her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth is also a fashion icon.

At the said event, Sophie wore a Victoria Beckham abstract printed dress. She amusingly told the guests that the prints are of cabaret dancers.

The fashion award is a yearly event set up in 2018, where female senior members of the royal family hand out the recognitions. Last year, it was Princess Anne who represented the Queen at the affair but Sophie has been handed more responsibilities this year after the royal family trimmed down its working members.

This year's recipient of the award is Priya Ahluwalia for her work in ethical fashion. She uses vintage pieces and deadstock fabrics to create her clothes and her innovation has also been recognized by other design bodies.

Meanwhile, Sophie has met Jolie in person before at a women's engagement in London in 2018. Jolie set up the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI) and invited the royal daughter-in-law to be part of the summit.

The Countess of Wessex and the Hollywood star both believe that sexual violence against women is an urgent issuethat the international community needs to address. The PSVI aims to fight for laws that will uplift the plight of women, as well as change the attitude and stigma against women in some societies, especially in war zones.

Royal insiders said that Sophie is Queen Elizabeth's preferred "stand-in" and one of her most trusted family members. Royal expert Judi James said that Sophie's closeness to her mother-in-law is not a secret among royal circles. The Queen has also been such a guiding presence to the Countess of Wessex, who has grown in her role as working royal over the years.

James said that Sophie's aura brings a sense of approachability and accessibility but she still speaks in a regal tone on behalf of Queen Elizabeth. For the body language expert, Sophie is much like her style choice: classic or traditional but with a refreshing approach.
