Prince Charles made his first public appearance at a vaccination center the day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview aired in the United Kingdom and then dodged the press when he was asked about the revelations made by his son and daughter-in-law about the royal family.

According to reports, the Prince of Wales was "nervously chuckling" when royal reporters asked for his comments and then proceeded to walk away without giving the press an answer. Sources, however, said that Charles is in a "state of despair" over the interview.

Harry said that his father let him down because the institution failed to protect his wife and his child. Meghan admitted that she had thoughts of suicide while inside the palace, where she wasn't given the freedom to go out to spend time with her friends because she has been all over the news.

The Sussex couple also said that some members of the royal family discussed concerns about the skin color of their future children, while Meghan was pregnant with their son, Archie Harrison. The couple held back tears when they told Winfrey that Archie was not provided security despite their lives being at risk from the press and paparazzi invasion. They alluded that they were not treated and protected the same way as other members of the royal family.

Insiders said that Harry emailed his father to explain why he and Meghan had to do the interview with Winfrey. Royal author Sarah Gristwood said that this has been another "major blow" to the reputation of the future monarch. Harry has done his father a lot of damage as the next head of the royal family.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has been in closed-door meetings since Harry and Meghan's interview. While Queen Elizabeth initially refused to sign off on a statement prepared by the royal staff, the Palace has now released this, saying that they are concerned with the issues raised by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The statement, however, also indicated that "some recollections may vary," referring to the race allegations.

Both Harry and Meghan, however, had praises for the Queen during the interview. Meghan said that Her Majesty reminded her so much of her own grandmother while Harry said that they never blindsided the Queen because he has too much respect for her.

The Sussexes also said that they have been regularly in touch with Her Majesty despite stepping back from their royal roles. The couple has also phoned the Queen upon learning that Prince Philip has been in the hospital.
