Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, will not stop going to the media unless his daughter talks to him again, nearly two years after they have been estranged.

Thomas was on Good Morning Britain the day after Meghan and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in the U.K. He admitted that he lied to Meghan about collaborating with the press before the Sussex pair's wedding in 2018.

Meghan's father explained that they were contacted by someone from the press through his other daughter, Samantha Markle. They signed the agreement because they were promised it would make Thomas make look good in the eyes of the public. Regrettably, Thomas said that the opposite happened.

The duchess' father said that he now regrets staging those photos with the paparazzi. However, he also said that he didn't receive any protection when he was being attacked in the press daily and he has never heard back from Meghan even as she lives 70 miles away.

Since he hasn't been in touch with his daughter, Thomas said that he will keep appearing in the media until Meghan and Harry speak to him. The father explained that the reason he wants to see his daughter is to personally apologize and make up for his mistakes. Thomas also said that he would have been there for his daughter had she known she was going through a mental health crisis.

Meghan told Winfrey during the interview that she felt betrayed after she found out that her father did work with the paparazzi despite telling his daughter that he has not spoken to the press. The Duchess of Sussex said she cannot reconcile how a father could hurt his own child, while her mother, Doria Ragland, kept her silent all these years despite being "hunted down" by the media as well.

It comes as Meghan recently received a summary judgment for her lawsuit against Daily Mail and the publisher, Associated Newspapers, which published her letter to her father. The judge ruled that the tabloid violated the duchess' privacy and has ordered the news outlet to pay Meghan $2 million in legal costs. A summary judgment meant that the case will not have to go to trial in October.

Meghan also demanded a front-page apology from the Daily Mail, which the paper has yet to publish. Associated Newspapers' lawyers are still trying to appeal the case and said that they were disappointed that this will not go to trial because they perceived they would have "a real prospect of success" against Meghan. Thomas would have testified for Daily Mail against his daughter.
