Kate Middleton and Prince William joyfully welcomed the news of the birth of Pippa Middleton's second baby on March 15, 2021, and she named her daughter after her royal sister.
In the early morning of Monday, a beautiful baby was born to the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sibling. Pippa named her child with husband James Mathews, Grace Elizabeth Jane. Elizabeth is also the second name of Kate, aside from being the name of William's grandmother, the Queen.
Pippa and her husband have a two-year-old son named Arthur, who was born in October 2018. She gave birth at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital, where Kate also gave birth to her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The Matthews family has been a quiet life as James works as a hedge fund manager. He was formerly a professional race car driver for British Formula 3 and is heir to Glen Affric, a 10,000-acre Scottish estate in the Highlands.
Baby Grace is the fifth grandchild of Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate and Pippa's parents, who are quite hands-on with the kids. Her birth comes just as Kate honored Carole for Mother's Day in the U.K. in an Instagram post.
Carole is said to have a major influence in the lives of her grandchildren and she is a familiar face in Kensington Palace, the official home of the Cambridges in London, and Anmer Hall, the family's country estate. She babysits for her royal grandkids when Kate and William have engagements despite having their longtime nanny at home with them as well. Carole once saice that she loves to cook with the children or go on bike rides.
Meanwhile, Kate has kept quiet amid the controversial Oprah Winfrey interview of her in-laws, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Meghan dragged Kate's name in one issue she raised about the exchange they had with bridesmaids' dresses during the Sussex wedding in 2018.
Meghan said that the royal aides refused to correct the reports that she made Kate cry when it was the other way around; it was Kate who made Meghan cry. Editor Laura Schäfer said that Kate should have aired her side as well and lived up to her image as a role model instead of ignoring the claims.
Schäfer also blasted Kate for breaching lockdown protocols when she joined the vigil for a crime victim. The editor also took shots at the Mother's Day post on the Cambridges' Instagram account, saying these were strategic posts to paint a positive image of Kate and William after Meghan and Harry's revelations.
