The Witcher season 2 is bringing a lot of new faces once it premieres on Netflix. The fantasy drama is based on the popular book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski and video game. Ahead of its official release, fans have been getting updates on who's arriving in the second installment.

The Witcher season 2 sees the introduction of The Wild Hunt, which was teased in some recently-released set photos. The villains from the franchise will be making their television debut, and they're going to have a vital part in the story of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and Ciri (Freya Allan).

The photos first surfaced online via Redanian Intelligence, with their sources teasing the arrival of the Wild Hunt. The images featured five all-black armored warriors and their armored horses traveling along the beach. Yet, it is unknown whether these villains will have a huge part in the second outing.

For those who are familiar with the source materials, the Wild Hunt was known as the Wraiths of Mörhogg or Red Riders, who were prominently featured in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. They were Aen Elle elves led by Eredin Bréacc Glas and desired to acquire slaves from other worlds to serve the elves.

In The Witcher season 2, the Wild Hunter might be targeting Ciri as they're interested in her Elder Blood abilities. The crown princess of Cintra holds more power than previously thought, and Geralt of Rivia will do everything he can to protect her.

Aside from the Wild Hunt, The Witcher season 2 will introduce more characters in the story. The new cast members include Chris Fulton as Rience, Simon Callow as Codringher, Liz Carr as Fenn, Cassie Clare as Phillippa Eilhart, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Adjoa Andoh as Nenneke, and Kevin Doyle as Ba'lian.

Other previously-confirmed cast members also indue Mecia Simson as Francesca, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Yasen Atour as Coen, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, and Agnes Bjorn as Vereena.

The new season will see Geralt of Rivia bringing Ciri to the safest place he knows, Kaer Morhen. He must protect this girl from dangers, especially the mysterious power she has inside her. He'll also reunite with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), whom he believed to have been killed during the Battle of Sodden.

No official release date has been set for The Witcher season 2, but it is slated for a 2021 premiere on Netflix.
