The Witcher season 2 will be introducing new faces once it returns on Netflix. Each role varies in importance, but most of them will be recognizable in either the video game or Andrzej Sapkowski's book series of the same name. Here are the new characters joining the fantasy drama.

Recently, the official Twitter account of Netflix revealed that seven new cast members join the upcoming The Witcher season 2. Most of the newly-added characters might be familiar for long-time fans and they are going to be essential in the story.

The list includes Simon Callow as Codringher, Cassie Clare as Phillippa Eilhart, Kevin Doyle as Ba'lian, Adjoa Andoh as Nenneke, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Liz Carr as Fenn, and Chris Fulton as Rience. Prior to this announcement, several cast members have been confirmed to be joining the series.

The previously-announced new cast members are Mecia Simson as Francesca, Yasen Atour as Coen, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, and Paul Bullion as Lambert.

These new cast members join Henry Cavill, who plays the lead role of Geralt of Rivia, in The Witcher season 2. Other returning cast includes Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, and MyAnna Buring as Tissaia.

In The Witcher season 2, Geralt of Rivia is convinced that Yennefer died during the Battle of Sodden. Because of this, he decided to bring Princess Cirilla to Kaer Morhen, the safest place he knows. He needs to protect this girl from something more dangerous -- the mysterious power she has inside her.

A clip released in November 2020 also teased that new monsters and terrifying creatures will further shake up the story. Geralt of Rivia must deal with all of the dangers that surround him while protecting Princess Cirilla at the same time.

Meanwhile, the current installment kicked off production in early 2020. However, production was halted in March of the same year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the work resumed after a few months, it was shut down again after several crew members tested positive for the virus.

After two weeks, production started again on November 24, 2020, and continued until December. The Witcher season 2 official release date remains unknown as of this writing. But, previously, Netflix teased it is due to arrive at some point in 2021.
