Princess Diana would have not been happy with Prince Harry, who said in his interview with Oprah Winfrey that his brother, Prince William, was trapped as a working royal and future king.

According to the Princess of Wales' biographer and friend, Andrew Morton, Diana would have been unsupportive of Harry and would disapprove his statements because he threw William under the bus. Morton said that when Princess Diana was still alive, she had always relayed to him that he wanted her sons to work together. She also believed that Harry would serve as William's back up when he becomes the king after his father, Prince Charles.

Though Diana had been critical of her husband, Charles, and also attacked him in a televised interview, she had always cared for William's succession to the throne. In the documentary Diana: The Truth Behind the Interview, Diana told journalist Sir Max Hastings that she was hoping Charles will immediately pass on the throne and let their son lead the people.

Diana had tried to raise her sons as equals despite their destined roles in the hierarchy of the monarchy. The Princess of Wales also instilled in Harry that he's still very lucky to not bear the responsibilities of a king.

While William had tea times with the Queen Mother or special training and education without Harry, Diana made sure that her other son knew why being the spare was equally important. However, her untimely death ultimately placed Harry under the shadow of his older brother thus he struggled to find his identity within the royal family.

But biographer Robert Jobson said Diana believed Harry was better equipped to be king than William since he's more at ease with people and had so much of his mother's charisma. Diana used to call her younger son "Good King Harry" and knew that William, deep inside, didn't want his future role because he hated the idea that his every move would be scrutinized.

Jobson believes that Princess Diana would actually be enjoying the outcome of Harry's interview with Winfrey, which many have described as being damaging to the royal family. It was no secret that Diana had shunned the institution and didn't like her ex-husband's family. She was at odds with the palace and the senior royals and even believed that she was being spied on because the royal family wanted her out of their lives, permanently.
