The personal experiences of Meghan Markle as a member of the royal family, as she told Oprah Winfrey in an interview in March, felt like a "smear hit job" on Queen Elizabeth and Britain for British broadcaster Pier Morgan, prompting him to speak up against the Duchess of Sussex.

But after voicing his opinion and criticisms against Meghan on his own show, Good Morning Britain, Morgan decided to quit his job. The presenter's comments about Prince Harry's wife drew over 57,000 complaints from the regulatory body Ofcom, pushing Morgan to say that he "wasn't allowed to have an opinion" by the "wokes" and their cancel culture.

The broadcaster then explained in an interview with Tucker Carlson for Fox News that his issues with Meghan were the lies in her claims during the Winfrey interview. He said it was not in his place to question the suicidal thoughts of the Duchess of Sussex, which she confessed to Winfrey, but Morgan felt that she was attacking the royal family, the queen and Britain after revealing her experiences as a working royal.

Morgan also accused Meghan Markle of "complete hypocrisy" and believes that British people now see through her. He pointed out that Meghan made 17 different claims in her interview that were "completely untrue, or massively exaggerated, or unprovable."

Meanwhile, despite the Ofcom complaints, Morgan said that people on the streets have come up to him to say that they agreed with his criticisms of the Duchess of Sussex. Old or young folks, regardless of race or color, have apparently approached the TV presenter to "defend his right" to speak up. While he lost his lucrative morning show spot, Morgan said that he's still getting a lot of offers to anchor other shows.

But Morgan is not without his own share of critics. David Simon, who created the award-winning HBO series The Wire, ended in a Twitter argument with the broadcaster after his Fox interview aired.

Simon took a swipe at Morgan and called him the "most pouty" member of the "talking-head sewage." Morgan, on the other hand, shot back and said that while Simon is a great writer, he is a "repulsive human being."

The broadcaster has been highly critical of Meghan Markle since she started dating Harry in 2016 and he has been called off on his comments more than once, especially on social media. Morgan said that he and the Duchess of Sussex were friends but she also "ghosted" him when her relationship with the duke became public.
