Song Joong Ki remains to be one of the most favorite K-drama stars until today. He has wowed the audience time and over again with his incredible acting skills in Descendants of the Sun, Arthdal Chronicles, The Innocent Man, the latest Vincenzo, and more.

Of course, who will ever forget his fairy-tale love story with Song Hye-Kyo, famously dubbed Song-Song, which, sadly, ends up in a divorce? If you think you already knew everything about Song Joong Ki, these things will remind you that he is more than just a K-drama idol.

He Used To Be A Short-Track Speed Skater

The 35-year-old star is not only athletic in his TV and movie projects; he also is in real life. According to ABS-CBS News, the actor used to be a short-track speed skater when he was in junior school.

He even participated in the Korean National Sports Festival thrice to represent his hometown, Daejeon's, regional team. Sadly, he had to quit due to an injury and a more profound reason that had something to do with several conflicts between the short-track groups.

He Has Business Administration Degree

Song Joong Ki is not just an actor; he is an actor with a degree. South China Morning Post noted he took a gap year and the Korea university exam, the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), twice.

He then got his business administration degree from Sungkyunkwan University. He was also feature in its magazine, Kingo, a number of times from 2008 to 2013 and became campus broadcaster's anchor, which he actually dreamed of becoming someday.

He Was Supposed To Be An Idol

With his good looks and incredible talent, Song Joong Ki received many offers, including becoming a trainee for an idol group. He didn't reveal what group, though, but it is said to be famous today.

That's not all! He also got a call to be a runway model after making an appearance on Quiz Korea. The late famed Korean designer André Kim called his mom before, asking if he could be in one of his fashion shows.

A Possible Baeksang Arts Awards Best Actor

Song Joong Ki is once again nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming 57th Baeksang Arts Awards, the Oscars of South Korea, per Asia Tatler. The Running Man former member's latest TV series, Vincenzo, is part of the nominations, and being one of the nominees is not surprising at all.

The ceremony will be held on May 13 at 9 p.m., which will be seen on JTBC. Just like last year, there will be no audience this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
