The Faraway Paladin's official Twitter page announced its anime adaptation by Children's Playground Entertainment. It also dropped major details about the new series, along with a trailer and a new visual.

The Faraway Paladin is originally a Japanese light novel series written by Kanata Yanagino and illustrated by Kususaga Rin. After starting its serialization online in 2015, it is now set to hit the small screens.

The tweet reveals, via Epic Dope, Yu Shinoda will direct the new anime with a series composition by Tatsuya Takahashi. Koji Haneda will then handle the character design.

The post's accompanying trailer introduces fans to the main characters, while the protagonist's, Will (voiced by Maki Kawase), monologue plays in the background. Marie (Yui Horie), the next character seen, is holding the baby Will while looking at the destroyed barren lands.

The clip then shows Augustus (Nobuo Tobita), Brad (Katsuyuki Konishi), and the other three undead who raised Will. It also gives a glimpse of Menel (Ayumu Murase), and other supporting characters who will be seen in The Faraway Paladin.

At the end of the clip, Will can be heard greeting the Goddess of Flames and Eternal Flux. Aside from the preview, it also drops the anime's official poster, featuring Will as he begins his new journey with Grace Feel, the God who controls life flow in the background.

The title's novels are published in Japan by Overlap under Overlap Bunko imprint. Its English version, on the other hand, is published by J-Novel Club, Crunchyroll noted.

The series tells the story of the only human, Will, living in the city of the dead. Three undead raised Will: Blood, the skeletal warrior; Mary, the mummified priestess; and Gus, the spectral sorcerer.

They all deeply love Will and teach him everything they know, but the kid will start to wonder about his real identity. From here, the mystery surrounding Will will be unveiled, while the secret of the dead man's land and the undead will be revealed.

With the interesting story of The Faraway Paladin, its manga fans are now excited to see its anime adaptation. They all have high expectations for the series, hoping it will give Yanagino and Rin's novel justice.

One fan said its first season might adapt its first two volumes initially, per Anime News Network. Another one didn't expect the anime's coming, but it would be welcomed if it would adapt until the end of The Lord of the Rust Mountains arc.

The new anime series will debut in October 2021.
